Tom Moore
Chief Executive Officer
Thomas Moore is a co-founder and has served as CEO since 1995. He has more than 25 years of management experience with start-ups, including as a founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of SciClone Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company that went public in 1992. From 1988 to 1998, Tom served as the principal of Sand Hill Management Group, a private investment and management firm involved primarily in turn-around and start-up management of high growth businesses. From 1982 to 1987, Tom was Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Synercom Technology, a company that he took public in 1986. From 1967 to 1982, Tom held a number of senior management positions at Honeywell Inc., including Vice President of Pacific Operations. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Finance and Marketing from California State University, Hayward.
Ledia Ouyang
Chief Financial Officer
Ledia Ouyang started at CBR as the Corporate Controller in 1999. Prior to joining Cord Blood Registry, Ledia held management positions with private and public companies, where she directed all functions in the finance, corporate income tax, and Human Resources areas, as well as had direct involvement in SEC filings, merger and reorganization processes. Ledia is a licensed CPA and holds a B.S. in Accounting from San Francisco State University.
David Zitlow
Executive Vice President, External Affairs
David Zitlow has been a member of the CBR management team since 2006 and serves as the company’s chief marketing and communications officer. Prior to joining CBR, Dave held executive management positions at GolinHarris and MS&L, both global public relations firms, where he provided strategic counsel for numerous healthcare and consumer goods companies, including Bristol-Myers Squibb, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson, and Procter & Gamble. Earlier in his career, Dave held marketing and sales positions at McDonald's Corporation and Abbott Laboratories, directing various entrepreneurial business initiatives. Dave holds an M.S. in Integrated Marketing from Northwestern University and a B.S. in Political Science and Spanish from DePauw University.
Yair Avgar
Chief Technology Officer, Chief Security Officer
Yair Avgar has been leading software development and infrastructure projects at CBR since 2004. He also oversees the development and maintenance of security and privacy initiatives, in addition to providing vision and leadership across multiple areas within the company. Prior to joining CBR, Yair held technical and security leadership positions in multiple companies and in a range of industries, including Nexpansion/Netgrocer.com, Pilat-NAI, and Formula Insurance Solutions. He also served as an officer in an elite high-tech research and development unit in the Israeli Defense Forces. Yair holds a master's degree in Cognitive Psychology from Tel Aviv University and a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Computer Science from Bar-Ilan University, Israel.
Heather Brown
Vice President, Science and Medical Affairs
Heather Brown has been with CBR since 2001 and has more than 20 years of clinical and business experience in the healthcare and biotech industries. Heather is a board certified genetic counselor with extensive experience in prenatal, pediatric, and cancer genetics. She has led a number of new business development and healthcare marketing initiatives during her tenure at CBR. In her current role, she is primarily responsible for research partnerships, clinical trial management, and medical need-based programs. Heather holds a B.A. and M.S. in Health and Medical Sciences from the University of California at Berkeley.
Kristen Swingle
Vice President, Laboratory Operations
Kristen Swingle has been responsible for overseeing all operations at CBR’s laboratory in Tucson, Arizona, since 2007. Kristen has a strong background in experimental design, technical writing, and management. In 2006, she served as the project lead for the implementation of AXP processing at CBR, working closely with Thermogenesis to optimize this process for our facility. Before coming to CBR, Kristen held the position of Microbiology Lab Manager for an environmental testing laboratory. Kristen holds a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in Medical Sciences.
